Young’s Home Hardware Hosts Bucket Sale

The Award Winning Bucket Sale at Young’s Home Hardware is slated for Saturday November 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Located at 525 Main Street, North, Mount Forest, Young’s Home Hardware is hosting the event for the fifth year in 2019. Shoppers can purchase a Home Hardware bucket for $5, then use the bucket to shop for items in the store. Any item that is not already on sale and fits in the bucket can qualify for 20% off (some exclusions apply).

The purpose of the sale is to increase awareness of Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) and help raise funds for the program. Young’s Home Hardware benefits by having their buckets out in the community and by enjoying an increase in shoppers looking for savings.

Marty Young, left, of Young’s Home Hardware holds the Community Service Award, while CSGW Vice Chair Deryck West holds the Outstanding Fundraising Concept for the annual Bucket Sale held at the store. The awards were presented at the OACS Conference in Windsor in June.

The Bucket Sale was named as the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers Outstanding Fundraising initiative in 2018. The concept was brought to CSGW by Young’s Home Hardware owner Marty Young, who wanted to give back to the community. It has proved to be a popular event with shoppers enjoying savings, while learning about CSGW. Members of the CSGW Board of Directors will be on hand to sell buckets and to answer questions about the Crime Stoppers program.

This partnership is an excellent example of a local business working with CSGW to increase awareness as well as assisting with fundraising needs. All the buckets for the sale are donated by Young’s Home Hardware.

In addition to the Outstanding Fundraising Award, the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers also named Marty Young and Young’s Home Hardware to the Community Service Award for the ongoing work they have done with CSGW.
