While the weather wasn’t as favorable, the community support was overwhelming positive at the Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) 2018 Mount Forest Shredding Event on Oct. 27.
Eager customers were lining up as early as 9 a.m. although the event wasn’t slated to begin until 10 a.m. Filebank Canada once again provided their service free of charge, allowing CSGW to raise $5 per bankers box from customers looking to reduce their chance of being victims of identity theft.
Although cool wet weather was forecast, enthusiastic volunteers were ready to assist customers with drive-thru service. At times demand was so high, that the parking lot at the Wellington North Fire Service was full to capacity. Supporters came from the Wellington North area, and as far away as Guelph and Erin.
CSGW relies on fundraising events, such as the annual Shredding Events, to pay Tipster rewards as well as run the program. The Shredding Events also draw attention to the issue of Identity Theft, and CSGW can help prevent members of the community from falling victim to this crime.
The CSGW Board of Directors appreciates all who attended to support the 2018 Shredding Events, and of course, Filebank, for offering their professional service at no cost to the program.
Check in at www.csgw.tips to see when the next Shredding Event will take place. Guelph is usually mid September, and Mount Forest is the Saturday before Halloween.
