Sold out Trivia Night Earns $1,900 for CSGW

The 2018 Trivia Night was another sold out success with 28 teams trying to best the Wellington County OPP “Pro Team”.

The Feb 17 event saw a full house of trivia fans enjoying the renown Mash Potato Bar, Silent Auction offerings and three gripping rounds of True Crime Trivia.

Emcee for the evening and the mastermind behind Trivia Night, Grand River Raceway’s Manager of Marketing & Communications, Kelly Spencer, laid out the ground rules, and offered additional points for participants with a number of entertaining and challenging tasks.

Here, Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander Inspector Scott Lawson locks up Theresa Reid of Guelph after she failed to win a challenge. Larry Peters of YourTV Fergus, records the lock up.

The last chance for Bonus Points came as Kelly Spencer locked up Inspector Lawson. Three number-themed questions would give participants the clues needed to release the combination lock. Eventually, the Inspector was freed and the team totals were tallied.

Once again, a team defeated the OPP Pro Team and earned bragging rights, as well as $250! Here, from left, PC Joshua Cunningham, PC Jennifer Tschanz, Staff Sgt Bruce Aitken, and Inspector Scott Lawson represented the Pro Team and offered congratulations to the top team, consisting of Jim Gillies and Luan Freeman of Guelph, with CSGW Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter. (absent from photo was PC Cheri Rockefeller).

To add to the fun, teams were encouraged to come in costume for a chance to win prizes!

Silent Auction items were a big hit once again, with a variety of items and services on offer. A number of community-minded business and individuals donated prizes for the Silent Auction table.

As a result of the bids, and a portion of ticket sales for the event, a total of $1,900 was raised for CSGW. CSGW looks forward to working with Grand River Raceway next year for the 2019 Trivia Night! If you missed out this year, keep checking www.csgw.tips for information in late 2018.

A hearty Thank You to Kelly Spencer and the team at Grand River Raceway for once again hosting this incredibly fun and entertaining fundraiser. CSGW requires ongoing fundraising as cash rewards are offered to Tipsters who provide valuable information that leads to arrests for crimes in our community.
