The Second Annual Darren’s Day is scheduled for Family Day 2020, falling on February 17th.
Darren’s Day is named in memory of Darren More, a husband and father who lived in Palmerston with his family. Darren was killed on July 11, 2018 when his vehicle was struck by another vehicle that was driven by an individual who was impaired by drug.
To celebrate this man who gave back to his community in so many ways, Darren’s Day is a fun, positive event that allows families to celebrate being together.
Approximately 1,000 guests attended the first event, which raised more than $6,000 for Minto Minor Sports, Palmerston Marlins Softball Club, Palmerston Lions and Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW).
Once again there will be favorite activities such as the Palmerston Marlins Sno Pitch Tournament, CSGW Winter Festival Games, Minto Fire Fighters Breakfast and Palmerston Lions Lunch. Additional events include snow fort/sculpture building (weather permitting) and a plunger toss tournament. Make sure you are there for Tug a Truck where Wellington County OPP looks for payback on last year’s defeat to the Minto Fire Service!
Keep checking back to this page to see what new activities are announced.
In 2020 guests can purchase Darren’s Day toques for $20 each. To sign up a sno pitch team, contact Mary Iles at [email protected] or go to the Palmerston Marlin’s Facebook Page. Otherwise, all activities will be covered by guests donations.
CSGW is proud to partner with Minto Fire Service, Wellington County OPP, the Town of Minto, Palmerston Lions, Minto 81s and Palmerston Marlins to make this family-friendly and community-celebrating event available to the public.
We look forward to seeing you in Palmerston on February 17th to celebrate Darren More!
