The Mount Forest Lions Club demonstrated their support of Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) with a donation of $1,000.
The donation, made at the November 29th meeting of the club, is just part of the club’s support of CSGW. The Crime Stoppers sign at the north end of Main Street in Mount Forest is also part of the Lions Club’s dedication to ensuring a safe community for residents.
Following the dinner and other business matters for the club, there was an opportunity to update members on the status of CSGW, and take questions from the floor. One of the questions asked was, what is the average number of tips the program gets a week. As the stats are collected on a monthly basis, the group was advised that the current average is between 60-70 tips a month but have been as high as just over 100. Another asked if cannabis legislation has had any impact on the program. While drug tips are frequently submitted to the program, the new legislation has not had any real impact in terms of tip volume.
In presenting the funds, Lion President Kaye Moody stated the Mount Forest Lions were please to support CSGW and look to support local community-based initiatives and programs.
“We try to keep as much money in Mount Forest as we can,” she said. “Thank you for all you do!”
The Mount Forest Lions Club consists of approximately 50 members who raise funds through a variety of activities, including Lions Bingo, Light Up The Night raffle ticket sales and road tolls. The CSGW Board of Directors is most appreciative of the support of the Mount Forest Lions Club, and the work they do in community.
