Online Property Auction Supports CSGW

It was a big cheque for a big contribution from the County of Wellington’s Online Property Auction in 2022.

From left, CSGW Board member John Svensson is presented with the proceeds of the 2022 Online Property Auction from Wellington County Police Services Board members Dave Anderson, Lisa MacDonald, Gary Williamson and Wellington County OPP Detachment Commander Steve Thomas while CSGW Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter looks on.

The auction, which was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to public health requirements, was moved online for 2022. With extra inventory being held until this spring, the amount donated to Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) was a whopping $6,481. 87.

The cheque presentation took place September 14, 2022, just before the CSGW annual report at the Wellington County Police Services Board meeting at the administration office.

Fundraising is the main function of the CSGW Board of Directors. Fundraisers ensure the program can pay Tipster rewards and operate the program. In the past, the property auction took place at Parr Auctions, north of Fergus and a barbeque with free-will donation was hosted by CSGW volunteers. This year Parr Auctions move the event online with an outstanding outcome.

Board member John Svensson expressed appreciation on behalf of the Board of Directors, noting this is by far the most successful outcome of a property auction.

Thank you to the County of Wellington, Wellington County Police Services Board and Wellington County OPP for this outstanding donation and for all the effort put into the online auction.
