Brown Insurance Receives Cornerstone Award

Brown Insurance Brokers has been named to the Cornerstone Award for 2021, presented by Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW).

The Cornerstone Award, which recognizes businesses, organizations or individuals who have been outstanding supporters of CSGW, was shared with the Town of Minto/Township of Mapleton based business during Crime Stoppers Month. This is an annual award presented each January and is selected by the CSGW Board of Directors.

As a not for profit, charitable organization, CSGW relies on fundraisers, donations, and support from members of the public as well as community-minded organizations. In this regard, Brown Insurance has been a reliable, dedicated and long-term supporter of CSGW.

The Wellington County business started contributing to CSGW in November 1993. As of November 2021, this totaled an incredible $32,233. These are funds that went directly into supporting the local Crime Stoppers program and made a tangible impact to the effectiveness of the organization.

“The Board would like to express our sincere gratitude to Brown Insurance Broker, as their support over these many years has really help us be as successful as we have been. Without the support of local businesses like Brown Insurance Broker, we would not be able to operate,” said CSGW Board Chair Deryck West. “On behalf of the Board once again I would like to thank them for the support and congratulate them on be name our Cornerstone award winner for 2021!”

CSGW Chair Deryck West holds the Cornerstone Award Plaque as Paula Klooster and Holly Grotenhuis hold the 2021 Cornerstone Award.

The sentiment was echoed by Sarah Bowers-Peter, Program Coordinator for CSGW.

“Support from community-minded businesses such as Brown Insurance is what literally keeps this program operating,” said Bowers-Peter. “Without this kind of support, we would not have the success and effectiveness within the community.”

“Brown Insurance is very proud to accept this award,” said Brown Insurance Office Manager Holly Grotenhuis. “We are happy to partner with and help organizations such as Crime Stoppers. We are grateful for all of the hard work that they do to keep our community safe. This is truly an honour to be recognized.”
