Domestic Violence Awareness Online

Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) is partnering with Guelph Wellington Women In Crisis (GWWIC) to present Domestic Violence awareness online.

Domestic Violence: Reality & Resources is a virtual, two-night event that will inform the public on the realities of this crime and offer insights on community resources available to victims and their loved ones.

The first session is March 9 from 7-8 p.m. and focuses on “Realities”. GWWIC will share the experience of the victims and explain the mental process that individual goes through when they are in an abusive relationship. Covid-19 has amplified these challenges, and we will discuss how our communities have been dealing with a pandemic within a pandemic. You can log in from the comfort of your own home and will have the opportunity to ask questions of speakers during each session.

The second session is March 11 from 7-8 p.m. and targets the “Resources” within our area. It will spell out what a victim can expect when they break free from their domestic violence reality. We will have our police partners explain the process they go through when called to these occurrences.

These sessions are being presented online via Zoom and pre registration is required. Please go to Eventbrite here to get your invitation. The information is directed for victims, their loved ones and anyone who feels they may have observed Domestic Violence, or think they know someone who is suffering from this crime, but don’t know what to do to help.

CSGW will discuss how those who are aware of Domestic Violence can stop this crime by anonymously reporting to Crime Stoppers. As always, information that leads to an arrest could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

Sign up today if you are touched by this crime or you want to help, but don’t know where to start.
