Mulch Season Wraps for CSGW

While it didn’t look like Mother Nature was ready for Spring, supporters of Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington were ready for their annual Mulch Sales!

The first event, held April 28 at Young’s Home Hardware, was a chilly event, held one week after a massive late season snow storm.

Taking a break between customers are, from left, CSGW Coordinator Leesa Keleher, Young’s Home Hardware Owner Marty Young, CSGW Board member Rob Mattice, CSGW Board member Alex Boughen, CSGW Vice Chair Deryck West, Friends of CSGW Volunteer Laura Aston, CSGW Treasurer Bonnie Facklam and CSGW Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter. Absent from photo is Dieter Facklam.

As the Mount Forest Mulch Sale is in its third year, repeat customers were familiar with the easy drive-thru service and variety of colors.

In spite of the cooler temperatures, $980 was raised for CSGW.

Thankfully for volunteers, the Fergus Mulch Sale on May 5 was much warmer. Held at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex, the event saw an early lineup of customers as well as sunshine throughout the day.

An early lineup of customers is customary at the Fergus Mulch Sale, held at the Centre Wellington Sportsplex.

A terrific turnout of volunteers ensured that customers’ orders were filled promptly, allowing them ample time to get into their flowerbeds.

It was a happy group of volunteers on this sunny day. Those running the drive-thru include, from left CSGW Board member Dave Elloway, CSGW volunteers Greg Kelly and Keith Hoeksma, CSGW Board member Jacob Addison, volunteer Danielle Noonan, CSGW Board member Marlene Coughlin, CSGW Coordinator Leesa Keleher, volunteers Kayla Dixon, Tori Lawson and Dieter Facklam, CSGW Treasurer Bonnie Facklam, volunteer Corbin Peter and CSGW Board member Mamun Morshed.

A bit Thank You to our Centre Wellington and area supporters. We raised $3,788 thanks to your orders.

The Mulch Sale fundraiser started nine years ago and has been a major source of funding for the program. This is how CSGW pays Tipster rewards and to generate awareness for the program.
