There may have been a great rivalry on ice, but the winners of Lights & Sirens were Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington and Centre Wellington Food Bank.
The charity game, which took place March 19 at 11 a.m. after a family skate session, was housed in the Centre Wellington Sportsplex. Thanks to donations from the community in attendance, as well as players, 50/50 proceeds and sales of other CSGW items, the total from this inaugural event was $975.
The event was developed by PC Kyle Draves in partnership with CSGW and other community partners, including the Foodbank. Wellington County OPP had Auxiliary Members on hand to promote recruitment, CWFRS brought Sparky the Safety Dog, and Safe Communities Wellington attended to promote Accidental Poisonings Week.
Oh, and for those who want to know the score, CWFRS came out on top 9-3. That sounds like motivation for a rematch to us!
Thank you to all who participated in Lights & Sirens, whether it was on the ice or in the stands. It was a great family-friendly event to wrap up March Break! We appreciate the opportunity to work with community organizations for such a fun and collaborative fundraiser.
