Guelph United FC started in 2020 and is part of the League 1 Ontario Men’s Division and Women’s Division. These semi-pro teams have been promoting soccer (football) in the City of Guelph with an eye on putting the city on the map as a hub for the game.

Board members from left, Lavender Nguyen, Christine Jehlicka and Dave Elloway represented CSGW.

CSGW was invited to engage with the fans and responded with a full tent set up. Ten free tickets were distributed to lucky fans and Guelph United FC apparel was also handed out. CSGW Board members canvased the crowd for a 50/50 draw, and to engage with the public to answer questions about the local Crime Stoppers program. The CSGW colour-changing pencils were a hit with kids of all ages!

Although we couldn’t cheer loud enough to get the men’s team to victory, the women’s team was victorious in their 8:30 p.m. start. They wrapped their season at 6th place and we look forward to cheering both teams on for years to come! #WeAreUnited

The CSGW Board of Directors appreciates the opportunity provided by Guelph United FC to engage with their fans, their teams and all those who make the club so successful. For more information about Guelph United FC check out their website.
