2019 OPP Auction Raises $1,700 for CSGW

The proceeds from the June 2019 Wellington County OPP and County of Wellington Property auction were presented to Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) on Sept. 11.

Those on hand for the cheque presentation include, from left, Wellington County OPP Inspector Scott Lawson, County of Wellington Police Services Board Chair Joanne Ross-Zuj, member Gary Williamson, CSGW Board member Marlene Coughlin, County Councillor David Anderson and CSGW Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter

The auction, held annually at Parr Auctions north of Fergus, raised $1,714.75. This in addition to the CSGW barbecue with Piller Fine Foods that raised more than $945. Items auctioned offer are items recovered in police investigations that cannot be returned to the rightful owners. Each year the offerings are different and can vary from bicycles to jewelry to tools and equipment. Support for the event is strong, with approximately twice as many bidders coming out for the Property Auction.

The proceeds of the auction are turned back to the County of Wellington who donate the funds to CSGW as part of their ongoing support of the program. CSGW Board member Marlene Coughlin accepted the cheque on behalf of the Board of Directors. Following the presentation, the Police Service Board received the CSGW update from Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter.
