CRIME OF THE WEEK – MAY 10 – Distraction Theft

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) On Wednesday February 20th 2019, a theft occurred from a vehicle, located in a parking lot on St. David Street North in Fergus. Three unknown culprits, one female and two males, were able to obtain a “secret pin number” from an elderly woman, while she made a credit card purchase. Once in the parking lot, the three distracted the woman by advising her she had a flat tire. During this distraction, the culprits were able to steal her wallet and later use the information to withdraw a large sum of money from her accounts.
